Dhikala zone
The Dhikala zone of Jim Corbett National Park is the most famous and wildlife-rich safari zone, renowned for its vast grasslands, riverine forests, and breathtaking landscapes. Located along the Ramganga River at the edge of the Patli Dun Valley, Dhikala offers some of the best opportunities for spotting tigers, elephants, deer, gharials, and a wide variety of bird species.
This zone is especially popular for its expansive views, watchtowers, and high wildlife density. Jeep safaris and canter safaris allow visitors to explore deep forest areas under expert guidance. With its historic forest rest house, stunning scenery, and exceptional wildlife sightings, the Dhikala zone provides a truly immersive and unforgettable jungle experience in Jim Corbett National Park.
Best Time to Visit Dhikala Zone
November through June is the best time to visit the Dhikala Zone, as it remains open to tourists during these months, subject to forest department regulations. This period offers favorable weather conditions and excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings in one of Jim Corbett’s most iconic zones.
November to February: The weather is cool and pleasant, making it ideal for jeep and canter safaris, birdwatching, and enjoying the vast grasslands and river views of Dhikala.
March to June: Rising temperatures draw animals toward the Ramganga River and nearby water sources, significantly increasing chances of spotting tigers, elephants, and other wildlife.
Safari timings, permits, and accommodation availability in the Dhikala Zone are strictly governed by forest department rules and seasonal conditions.
